Frequently asked questions

Should I add a watermark to my photos?

A watermark discourages casual reuse and clearly marks ownership or the source of an image. It is common for photographers, stock contributors, and anyone publishing previews. It is not a substitute for copyright, but it makes attribution harder to remove accidentally.

Where should I place a watermark?

Corners are the least intrusive for viewing but the easiest to crop out. Placing it near the subject, tiling it, or using a semi-transparent mark makes removal harder. A small, low-opacity corner mark is the best compromise for most portfolios.

What opacity should I use?

Between 25% and 50% is usually enough to be visible without dominating the photo. For a subtle signature, 15–25% works; for strong protection on previews, go higher or use tiling.

Can I use a PNG logo with transparency?

Yes. Upload a PNG with a transparent background and it will be composited over your photo. The logo is scaled relative to the image width so it looks consistent across different photo sizes.

Does the watermark reduce image quality?

The image is redrawn once at full resolution and re-encoded, so keep the quality setting high (90%+). The watermark itself is drawn at full resolution rather than scaled from a thumbnail, so text stays crisp.

Is my watermark file uploaded anywhere?

No. Both your photos and your logo are loaded and composited in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
