Frequently asked questions

How do I make a meme?

Drop an image, type your top and bottom captions, and adjust the font size if you like. The preview shows exactly how the final meme will look. Click Download when you are happy with it.

Why does the text appear in all caps?

The classic meme format uses uppercase letters because they read clearly at small sizes. ImgSprint applies this automatically to keep the traditional look, so you can type in normal case and it will still render in capitals.

What font is used for the captions?

The captions use the Impact family with fallbacks to Anton and Arial Black, the fonts most associated with internet memes. If none of them are installed, the browser substitutes its closest heavy sans-serif, so the result still looks bold and blocky.

How do I make long captions fit?

Long captions wrap onto multiple lines automatically, within about 94% of the image width. If a caption still feels cramped, lower the font size slider. Shorter captions usually have more impact than long ones.

Should I export as JPG or PNG?

JPG produces the smallest files and is perfect for photos. Choose PNG if your source image has transparency you want to keep, since JPG and WebP flatten transparent areas onto white in this tool. WebP offers a good middle ground when your browser supports it.

Is my image uploaded to create the meme?

No. The image is decoded, captioned, and re-encoded entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded to ImgSprint or any third party.
