Frequently asked questions

Is WebP smaller than JPG?

Usually yes. At similar visual quality, WebP files are often 25–35% smaller than JPG, and sometimes much more for graphics. Every modern browser supports WebP, so it is a safe choice for websites.

Are my JPG files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files are opened, decoded, and re-encoded on your device, then saved locally. Nothing is sent to ImgSprint or any third party.

Can I convert multiple JPG files at once?

Yes. Drop as many files as you like and they are all converted with the same settings. You can download them one by one or all at once. The practical limit is your device memory, so on phones it is best to work in groups of 10–20.

Does converting JPG to WebP change the image size or dimensions?

The pixel dimensions stay the same — only the file format and encoding change, so the file size will differ. If you also need to change the width and height, use the Resize Image tool after converting.

Will transparency be preserved when converting to WebP?

Yes. WebP supports transparency, so transparent areas in the original are preserved. Only switch to JPG if you do not need a transparent background.

What quality should I choose?

For most photos, 85–92% keeps a great balance of quality and file size. Use 95%+ for images with fine detail or text, and lower values only when you need the smallest possible file.
